Major Projects
We dedicate our efforts and resources to projects that benefit Guatemalan communities
SCHOOL KITCHEN IN MACTZUL II
After a few other successful kitchen construction and remodel projects in Sacpulup, Xabillaguach and Río Camanibal, it is time to help another community: Cantón Mactzul II. The photo to the left shows the type of kitchen that they are using currently. Their health and job performance would improve drastically with an improved kitchen!
Recently, we interviewed the staff in Sacpulup and wrote this Impact Report as a means of promoting the benefits of supporting a project like this. Please consider a donation today so that we can repeat this project and improve the school kitchen for another deserving community! With adequate funding, it will not take long to build! Donate here.
HEALTH CLINIC IN PANIMACHE QUINTO ALTO
Like their neighbors at a lower elevation (Panimache Quinto Bajo) the community of Panimache Quinto Alto would be well-served to have a place where visiting doctors and medical teams could provide quality and comfortable healthcare in a sanitary environment with the equipment and privacy that every patient deserves. Having already completed one such clinic, the plans for this one are identical, and the construction crew is experienced and eager. With adequate funding, it will not take long to build! Read a few more details and learn how you can help!
A PRESCHOOL CLASSROOM FOR CHICUA I
The community of Cantón Chicua Primero values education greatly. They are one of the few communities we know in Guatemala that has institutions of learning at all academic levels: elementary, middle school, high school, and university! The only thing lacking is suitable space for the littlest learners: preschool children. So, when we were asked if we could share the cost with the community for the construction of a salon for the preschool, we had to commit and partner with this community. Construction is now underway!
WATER STORAGE TANK IN RIO CAMANIBAL
The community of Cantón Río Camanibal needs two water storage tanks for their water project to help with the distribution to the entire community. One will act as a relay point to the other half of the community. One benefit to working with the community of Río Camanibal is that the organization is not entirely responsible for the funding. In fact, only about 31% of it! The community was able to self-fund for the rest and is therefore greatly valuing the part we have contributed!
The work is very challenging, given that all construction materials are delivered roadside and then they have to be carried on the backs of the men, women and children of the community down the side of a mountain and into the valley where the first tank is being built.
